Happy Solstice everyone! Today's featured guest is Megan Lurie McCarver, a dear friend and colleague whom I've known since I began my career 12 years ago. Megan's path has led her to yoga instruction in the Los Angeles area for over eight years. Currently she teaches private yoga instruction and semi private groups. She also teaches a morning class on Saturdays by the beach that is open to all levels. I urge you to get in touch with Megan for balance and serenity to your life, and as an adjunct to my services. Namaste. -- A Word From Megan YogaEverywhere.com was launched right after my baby was born, three years ago. I had to find a way to continue to teach yoga and nurture Rose, my darling daughter. And as all mothers and fathers know, life with a newborn allows no free time to teach. Between sleeping, feeding, burping and changing diapers, I discovered short yet concentrated window of time to create and share YogaEverywhere. Once the seed was planted in fertile soil, with water and light, the site grew. Word got out and thank God, the search engines picked me up, literally! I am asked many times the question, "That if you only had a 15 minute break from your keyboard, what exercises would you do?" We are all packaged differently with unique needs and desires. Every stretch is not for every "body" I encourage viewers to begin at the breathing exercises on my website. While observing the breath, notice where tensions are held. What parts of the body need attention? Then go to that sequence and explore with a curious mind and calm breath. That mindful experience is self-care, unconditional love, and yoga. Please visit YogaEverywhere.com and enjoy the journey! Love and Light, Here's a review of Megan's site from Forbes.com Best of the Web (June 2001): Review of www.YogaEverywhere.com "Desk jockeys should appreciate this site, which is best for getting in a few subtle stretches without leaving your chair. Put up by a yoga teacher in California, it hosts no streaming audio or video, but offers breathing exercises and explicit instructions for doing yoga in the office, complete with photos of people surrounded by workday trappings performing the poses. The Yoga with Wings section offers helpful, common-sense tips for staying healthy while flying, as well as a series of yoga stretches to do in the air. This is a good site for people with slow connections--or people at work who need a break but don't want anyone to notice what they're doing. Best: The sunny 'next' links at the end of each instruction lead easily to the next pose. Worst: Yoga with Wings, intended to be done on a plane, requires an awful lot of space, and is likely to get you some pretty funny looks." Winter 2001 Fall 2001 |
